Learn to make great Rangoli by first learning how to draw the basic shapes! In this set of short and to the point videos by Ankita you will learn the basic shapes that you will use in almost all Rangolis you will make. Take your time, practise and get better at these shapes and your more complex designs will end up coming out very well!

How to hold with fingers only and keep hand clean

While having chalk powder marks on your hands may be a brag for some, other Rangoli lovers may like clean hands more ;). Here is a brief guide on how you can do this.

Don’t worry only the subtitles are in marathi, the video is quite self explanatory. We have another guide too if you want to learn a different technique to keep your hands clean while making Rangoli .

Making a dot Rangoli

A dot or a ‘Bindu’ is the most basic shape to learn while making a Rangoli. As you progress, you will be able to search for simple and complex Rangoli designs referred to in terms of dots. E.g. 3×3 dot Rangoli design which means the start of the design is by making a square grid of 3 dots vertically and 3 dots horizontally. This is a very simple shape to make and you will be able to master it quickly.

Drawing a line

A line is the next basic Rangoli shape to master. This will teach you to keep your hands steady – a skill you will find immensely useful as you progress in your Rangoli journey.
